Don't wait it out

Feeling “mostly fine” is the most common reason people wait too long.

Adrenaline is a good painkiller and a terrible diagnostician. In the hours after a collision it masks what your body actually went through — which is why so many people walk away from an accident feeling okay, then wake up two or three days later barely able to turn their head.

Even a low-speed impact moves your spine faster than your muscles can brace for it. The tissue strain, joint restriction and nervous system irritation that follows doesn't always announce itself right away. It just quietly settles in.

Getting evaluated early matters

Research suggests that seeking care early after a motor vehicle accident can ease acute pain and reduce the likelihood that it turns into a long-term problem. An evaluation also documents your injuries while the timeline is still clear — which matters for your insurance claim.

Why chiropractic care after an accident

What a well-built recovery plan does for you

Care at Roam isn't just an adjustment and a wave goodbye. It combines chiropractic treatment, soft tissue work and rehabilitative exercise into one plan built around your goals.

01

Targeted pain relief

Care is aimed at the specific areas the accident actually affected — offering a path to managing pain that doesn't lean on medication.

02

Lower risk of chronic pain

Early intervention paired with rehab exercise has been linked to a reduced risk of pain becoming a long-term fixture in your life.

03

Motion and strength, restored

Adjustments restore movement while targeted exercise rebuilds strength — so you get resilience back, not just relief.

04

A calmer nervous system

Adjustments, mobilization and balance work help the nervous system reset, which can turn down pain signaling over time.

05

Less scar tissue build-up

Soft tissue therapy, IASTM and movement work together to limit excessive tissue adhesions and support cleaner healing.

06

A non-surgical path forward

By addressing both structure and function, conservative care may help some people avoid more invasive options altogether.

Your first visit

No mystery. Here's exactly how it goes.

Being hurt is stressful enough without wondering what you're walking into.

1

We listen to the whole story

How the accident happened, where you were hit, what hurts now, what hurt yesterday, and what you're worried you won't be able to do anymore.

2

A thorough exam

Orthopedic, neurological and movement testing to find what's actually driving your symptoms — not just where you're pointing.

3

You see what we see

Dr. Brookings walks you through the findings in plain language, so you understand what happened to your body and what it needs.

4

A plan built on your goals

Getting back to work, to the gym, to the trail, to picking up your kid without wincing. We build backward from there — and if chiropractic isn't the right fit, we'll tell you and point you somewhere that is.

Questions people ask

Before you book

How soon after my accident should I come in?

As soon as you're able. Symptoms after a collision often take days to fully surface, and getting evaluated early gives you the best shot at addressing things before they settle in. If you've already been to urgent care or the ER and were cleared of serious injury, that's a good time to follow up with us for the musculoskeletal side of your recovery.

What if my accident was weeks or months ago?

Come in anyway. Plenty of people arrive here after months of hoping it would resolve on its own. Older injuries can take longer to work through, but a targeted plan combining adjustments, soft tissue work and rehab exercise still gives you a real path forward.

Do I need a referral from my doctor or attorney?

No referral is required to be seen at Roam Chiropractic & Wellness. If you're already working with a physician or attorney, we're happy to coordinate documentation with them.

Will my auto insurance cover this?

We currently accept all auto insurance providers, along with HSA and FSA. Coverage details vary by policy, so give the office a call at 503-666-8571 and we'll walk you through what to expect before your first appointment.

Is adjusting safe if I have whiplash?

Your first visit is an evaluation, not an automatic adjustment. Dr. Brookings screens for red flags and chooses techniques based on what your exam shows — which may mean gentler mobilization, soft tissue work and graded exercise before anything else. If your presentation calls for imaging or a referral, you'll be told that directly.
